Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha was born in Jodhpur on 18th December 1955 to the family of Shri Guman Mal Lodha who was the freedom fighter, the chief justice of Guwahati High Court and former member of Lok Sabha. He is a famous businessman, social worker and hardworking politician. He has been a front runner in social and religious works and public service. He always worked as a important link between government and Mumbai business community. He has always stood by the business community to get their issues resolved. People all over India know him as a patriotic politician. He is the member of Bharatiya Janata party. He has been elected as Member of Legislative Assembly from Malabar Hill constituency four times in a row in the 1994, 1999, 2005 and 2009 elections. He is known as a great orator and honest politician.

Influenced by the national issues, Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha has been associated with Akhila Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) since his childhood. After completing B.Com and LLB from University of Jodhpur, he has started practising law in Jodhpur High Court. But once his father, Shri Guman Mal Lodha, became the Judge of Jodhpur High Court, he has left the practice as it is morally incorrect to practice law is the same court where his father is a Judge. Later in 1981, he moved to Mumbai to start real estate business and thus laid foundation for Lodha Group. Today, Lodha Group has grown into one of the leading real estate companies in India. The vision, dedication and hard work of Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha played key role in the success of the Lodha Group. In the last few year, he has given the responsibility of Lodha Group to his two sons Abhishek Lodha and Abhinandan Lodha in order to spend full time and focus on social service.

Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha considers taking part in politics as a medium to serve the public as holding it helps in executing the social works. Because of his social service, he is well respected in the rajasthani, Gujarati, Maharashtrian and other communities in Mumbai. He is well respected in political as well as social fields. Over the last 15 years, he has implemented many initiatives through his Lodha foundation for the needy sections of the people in the areas of education, healthcare, sports and culture. Under the aegis of his wife Srimati Manju Lodha, Lodha Foundation provides medical treatment, education, vocational training, sports training and other social help to thousands of people. Lodha Foundation also works to help old people, widows and other needy people. The library set-up in Lodha Dham is the world’s largest library for religious and spiritual books. Books of all religions in many languages, ancient books and literature are available in this library.

As a legislator also, Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha had made great contribution. He has helped in the enactment of Right to Information Act (RTI) which has become a strong weapon in the hands of common man against corruption. Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha is the first to introduce RTI bill in a Vidhan Sabha in the country. Despite many difficulties faced, he has ensured passing of the RTI bill and getting the RTI act enacted. He played a significant role in bringing law against cow slaughter and setting up Animal Welfare board in Maharashtra. His role is bringing separate law/ regulations in favour of about fifty thousand housing societies is one of his achievements. He is a strong and influential politician.
