Education Minister of Maharashtra Vinod Tawde and senior MLA of BJP Mangal Prabhat Lodha also joined in cleaning the holy lake.

Union Human Resource Development minister Prakash Javdekar celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday by cleaning Mumbai’s historic Banganga Lake. Javdekar along with Education Minister of Maharashtra Vinod Tawde and senior MLA of BJP Mangal Prabhat Lodha removed waste from the water of lake and cleaned and also made an appeal to encourage and implement Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan of PM Narendra Modi. On the occasion of the birthday of PM Modi, Prakash Javdekar, Vinod Tawde and MLA Lodha cleaned the stairs of Banganga and also the waste in the water and made an appeal to maintain the holiness of Banganga. On this occasion MLA Lodha assured Minister Javdekar that he will start an initiative to maintain the sacred lake of Ramayana era, in which participation of locals will play an important role. Javdekar said Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan of PM Modi has become a people’s movement and now every Indian has become cautious about cleanliness.
Around 2000 people were present on this occasion; many of them were there to pay homage to their ancestors. Javdekar appreciated them for not immersing the puja material in the water. He said in near future a separate pond will be created here in which all the rites & puja material can be immersed. MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha had organized the event. On this occasion Jyotsna Mehta, Corporator of Walkeshwar, Meenal Patel Corporator of Khetwadi, local volunteers, people from NGOs and local residents were present in big number.
