Mumbai, 26th July: Senior BJP MLA Shri. Mangal Prabhat Lodha demanded in legislative assembly that government should take immediate steps to resolve problems of lakhs of residents of dilapidated and old buildings to avoid accidents and for convenience of people. In a special discussion after Ghatkopar building accident MLA Shri. Lodha said that government should take rent for 100 years and give ownership rights to tenants so that people need not depend on the owners of the building and can do the development themselves.
While demanding temporary transit camps for each ward in the Development Plan of Mumbai, he said that every year hundreds of families are evacuated from the old and dangerous buildings but government has not made any provision for new transit camps. Therefore in all future development schemes places for transit camps must be reserved. He further said in the assembly that to control the growing population in the city, benefits available to people of Mumbai should be given to each and every city of Maharashtra so that the burden of nurturing the state doesn’t fall on one city. He added like Mumbai Nagpur Samruddhi Highway, new employment opportunities can be generated through projects connecting Maharashtra. This will ensure state’s development.
MLA Shri. Lodha praised CM Devendra Fadnavis for prioritizing social cause and promptly completing the work related to it. He demanded that government should implement deemed conveyance scheme at the earliest. He also ordered that ownership rights be given to tenants with payment of 100 years rent, and rent apartments be allowed to form housing societies. MLA Shri. Lodha grabbed government’s attention towards the lengthy legal process and demanded that the more than 20 thousand cases of illegal constructions in Mumbai that are pending need to be resolved immediately. He also stated that if the demands are fulfilled immediately, the risk of accidents happening every year will be reduced.
